Kissel’s work focuses on understanding the biological and social origins of humans. He is interested in human evolution and applying mathematical models, genetic data, and anthropology to questions about our evolutionary history (especially Neandertals). Kissel is currently working on a postdoc project studying the origin and evolution of wisdom in the human species as well as a second project detailing the prevalence of violence before the origins of agriculture. He has also done archaeological work in France, Spain, and Germany and is very excited to be working at Notre Dame.
