Dr. Bolten is pursuing research on post-war development, youth, and inter-generational conflict in Sierra Leone. She uses the concept of morality as a lens through which to focus on the renegotiaton of social, economic and political relationships between youth and elders that occur during and after a war, and how this shapes development. Dr. Bolten is also interested in pursuing comparative research on political marginalization, resource exploitation and long-simmering conflicts in West Africa.
