Maurizio Albahari

Maurizio Albahari conducts research on Euro-Mediterranean, North American, and global issues related to migration, religious pluralism, and goverance, including the politics of race, culture, and identity.

He was the recipient of major research fellowships at UC San Diego's Center for Comparative Immigration Studies and at Notre Dame's Erasmus Institute, where he has written on Muslim migration in Italy and the EU, borders, secularism, and the culture industry. His first book manuscript is titled Charitable Borders: Pastoral Power at the Southern Edge of Europe, and recent academic publications include contributions to edited collections and to the International Institute for the Study of Islam in the Modern World (ISIM) Review.

Albahari has additional experience with the non-profit and literary sectors, and is working on two new ethnographic projects on intercultural/interreligious dialogue in Europe and on the journey of transnational clergy.
