September 1 – Activities night for gathering club information

September 2 – Last day to add classes or complete enrollment

September 3 – (5-7 pm) Back from the Field Party! Located in 625 Flanner Hall. All anthropology students and faculty that were in the field durring the break are invited. Please join us for pizza, fruit, veggies and refreshments. WELCOME BACK!

October 7 - Reynier’s open house and the official opening of the Molecular Anthropology Laboratory. The lab will be open from 12-4pm- please drop by when you can to check out our newest laboratory. In addition, some of the other labs will be open so please come over for a visit. The Reynier's building is off of Douglas Road, west of the Credit Union.

October 8 - The Encultured Brain Conference at Notre Dame

October 9-10 - Midwest Primate Interest Group meetings in Allendale, Michigan at Grand Valley State University (MPIG)

October 10 - Midwest Historical Archaeology Conference at Notre Dame (MHA)

November 2 - Permits and overrides open. Students should plan ahead to receive needed permissions and overrides by visiting with professors and office staff.

November 30 - 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Student Poster Exhibit, Anthropology Department (Flanner, 6th floor).  This will include 14 posters created by the students of the Fall 2009 Archaeology of Ireland class.  Snacks and soft-drinks will be provided.  This poster exhibit will be adjudicated by Professor Gabriel Cooney, Head of the School of Archaeology, University College Dublin.

Nov 30 - Dec 2 - Spring 2010 course registration for first-year students

December 1 - Professor Gabriel Cooney, Head of the School of Archaeology, University College Dublin, will be presenting a public lecture titled "Answers from the Grave: Death and the Ancestors in Prehistoric Ireland", on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at 4:00 pm (location TBA later).  This talk will run 50 minutes and will be followed by questions.  Funding for this event is provided by ISLA, the department of Anthropology, and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies. 

December 2 - Adjustment form process begins to allow registration in closed classes. Check with the professor and office staff for availability.

December 2-6 - American Anthropological Association annual meetings in Philadelphia (AAA)
