Sana received her MA (2016) from the University of Chicago and her BA (2012) from Wellesley College. For her Master’s thesis, she investigated how snow pack and temperature influence litter demography in Belding’s ground squirrels. At the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, she analyzed the effects of an ambassador program on the welfare of an African penguin colony.
For her doctoral research, Sana is interested in how aspects of human culture impact nonhuman primate behavior, and how those behaviors may be mediated by changes in physiology.
