Bárbara Formaggio Domingues

Biography

Bárbara is a Ph.D. student in Anthropology at the University of Notre Dame. She holds a Master of Science from the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil. She aims to investigate the intersection of human cooperation, maternal health, and child development in marginalized rural communities. Specifically, she plans to explore the impact of cooperation networks on maternal mental health and child development, particularly in contexts of food insecurity and limited resources. Using the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) framework, alongside biocultural and evolutionary perspectives on cooperative caregiving, she seeks to understand how historical patterns of cooperation and social support have evolved as strategies to overcome challenges, and how they continue to shape the health and well-being of vulnerable populations across generations.
