David Grogan

Biography

David holds an M.A. in Anthropology from Georgia State University and a B.A. in Political Science, Public Policy Focus from The George Washington University. For his master’s thesis, David completed a comparative study of the archaeological record of three English cities: York, Lincoln, and Southampton. Utilizing a theoretical framework combining anthropological and archaeological thoughts on space, place, and the structure and role of cities with theories of group identity formation and transformation, his thesis examined the role of the built environment within and near these urban sites.

At Notre Dame, David’s research focuses on early medieval Irish glass production and exchange networks. His work draws on a compositional analysis of early medieval glass to critically evaluate models of the early medieval economy. David is the recipient of the University Presidential Fellowship.
